As the pictures show, we are in the process of familiarising our drivers with a fleet of zero-emission Wrightbus Electroliners, in advance of their phased introduction on Route 270 (Mitcham to Putney Bridge) over the next few weeks.
First introduced to the network in May 1991, the 270 replaced withdrawn sections of three other services and it transferred to our Beddington Garage in May 2020, where it has remained since.
Richard Teggart, Beddington’s Operating Manager, said: “A big thank you to the local team for enthusiastically embracing electric buses, which I believe will prove popular with our passengers.”
As regular visitors know, we recently hosted Sir Sadiq Khan, the Mayor of London, at Battersea Garage to commemorate the 2,000th zero-emission bus to enter service in the capital. We look forward to continuing our work with him, plus Transport for London, our supply chain and colleagues, as we transform the capital’s iconic red buses to a greener future.
Look out for more from us over the coming days.
