On 17 August 2024, Transport UK London Bus was incredibly proud to bring two buses to the wonderful Imberbus including one of our state-of-the-art EV buses.
Imberbus is an annual celebration of all types of buses, showcasing modern and vintage vehicles; on one day a year, a very special service operates to the lost village of Imber. In 1943, the Ministry of Defence took over a swathe of Salisbury Plain for war training purposes, including the village of Imber. The village has remained uninhabited since then, but thanks to Imberbus, customers can travel to Imber from Warminster on a fantastic selection of buses.
Transport UK London Bus was delighted to serve customers who travel from all over the UK to visit Imberbus. Two buses served customers across the Imber routes, a New Routemaster, which usually runs on route 267 and one of our very latest Wrightbus Electroliners. The Electroliner is a fully EV bus that truly captured the spirit of the day - linking vintage travel to the latest in bus technology - in its London Transport Museum bus wrap. This popular EV bus usually operates on route 133.

'powerskid' provided by Zenobe
TUK London Bus was able to run a fully EV bus across the Imber routes, which had no power infrastructure, thanks to an innovative ‘powerskid’ mobile charging system that Zenobe provided. Visitors to Imber were delighted to experience and learn more about new EV technology.
Alastair Willis, Commercial Director of Transport UK London Bus, said.
’It is such an honour to be part of Imberbus and a pleasure to watch this magical celebration of bus grow every year. We are very grateful to our drivers and crew who made this possible and thankful to Zenobe for providing an innovative charging solution for our EV bus.’
