Famous for the power station building and animal rescue centre, Battersea is also home to London’s busiest bus garage.
Did you know:
- 15 Transport for London (TfL) routes are currently based at our Silverthorne Road site.
- Last month, we welcomed TfL Routes 337, 485 and G1 to Battersea.
- Every bus garage in the capital has a one or two letter garage code, which in the case of Battersea is QB.
- Between 1907 and 1985, Battersea was home to another bus garage, located at Hester Road, around two and a half miles away from our facility (black and white image from 1954).
- Route 24, the oldest unchanged bus service on the TfL network, dating from May 1914, is based Battersea. A 24-hour route, it runs between Hampstead Heath and Pimlico, using a fleet of New Routemaster vehicles
